The last time I tried using baitcasting equipment was about 30 years ago... needless to say, that was not a good experience. As a matter of fact, it was one of the most disappointing purchases I'd ever made as far as fishing equipment is concerned. If I hadn't paid so much for it, I'm sure it would have ended up on the river bottom.

One of my fishing goals this year was/is to learn how to use a baitcasting outfit. Since my past experience with this type of equipment was horrifying, I was more than a bit hesitant to breakout my newly purchased baitcasting rig for the first time. First impressions are everything!!!

I spent about 20 minutes casting my new rig in the backyard this evening after work... needless to say, I was impressed with my results. After making my inital settings I proceeded to make cast after cast without a single backlash... I have to give credit for my initial success to tips & information I received from my brother & another fishing buddy at who are baitcasting experts.

From what I can tell so far, I'm really going to enjoy this...
